Managing Director

Marcus Murdoch - BCom, CA, CPP

Marcus is an engaging and experienced business consultant with 12 years of international experience at Ernst & Young. His proven track record in delivering sustained results spans across a diverse range of commercial and agricultural enterprises. With a strong background in business transformation, Marcus brings expertise in strategy development, financial management, project management, technology implementation, contract negotiation, tax planning, and financial reporting. Marcus, married to Amy, enjoys spending time with his three children, Lily, Sophia and Huxley. He embraces an active lifestyle, you will often find him outdoors playing touch rugby or mountain biking.

Richard McClea - BCom Ag, CA

With thirty plus years in rural business service accounting firms, Richard brings deep expertise to the farm accounting industry. From helping new contract and sharemilkers get set up — and supporting them as they grow — to working with families on farm succession planning, business sales, and company wind-ups, Richard has experience across the board. Richard is married to Linda, and together they have three adult sons. Outside of work, he remains actively involved in both sporting and community organisations, contributing in hands on and administration roles.

Naomi Woutersen - BCom, CA 

Naomi has over 10 years experience in the accounting industry, having worked across both corporate and local accounting firms. Naomi brings strong expertise in client advisory, business structuring, tax and succession planning, supported by a broad range of experience across multiple industries. She enjoys working closely with clients to achieve practical, long term outcomes for their businesses. With an agricultural foundation from growing up on dairy farms in both Australia and New Zealand, as well as studying at Lincoln University, Naomi has a genuine understanding of rural and owner managed businesses. Naomi lives with her partner Jason in Ashburton and together they have two dogs. Outside of work, she enjoys an active lifestyle which usually involves a mountain bike or a road bike. To unwind, she enjoys reading a book in the sun curled up with her dogs.

Amie O'Neill - BCom (Hons), CA, CPP

Amie is a client advisor specializing in commercial sector clients. She has over 20 years of experience creating practical, real-world accounting solutions that are also tax effective. Amie particularly enjoys supporting start-ups as well as clients involved with business purchases and sales. Amie is married to Steve and has two school aged children, Ellie and Blake. She is a keen social hiker, skier and loves organising outdoor adventures with groups of family and friends.

Louise Brownlee

Louise is an experienced accountant with over 20 years in the field. She is passionate about working closely with her clients to help them transform their businesses and achieve their financial goals. In addition to her accounting expertise, Louise is a dedicated mother of two. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time in the great outdoors. With her extensive experience and personal approach, Louise is a valuable asset to any business looking to improve their financial health.

Client Service Manager

Annie Vince - BCom, CA

Since moving to New Zealand from the United Kingdom in 2005, Annie has completed a Bachelor of Commerce Degree at the University of Canterbury and passed the Professional Competency Exam to become a Chartered Accountant. Annie and her partner Mark have three children and they run an organic farming operation near Leeston. Outside of work, Annie is involved with many sporting and community organisations that her three active children partake in. She also enjoys spending time with her dog, Timmy, and sightseeing around New Zealand.

Catherine Leadley - CA

Catherine began her career at Croys in 1993 as an accountant. After transitioning to a part-time role to raise her family, she recently stepped into the position of Client Service Manager. She is married to Paul, and together they have three children. They farm at Wakanui. In her spare time, Catherine enjoys supporting her kids in their activities, running, and catching up with family and friends.

Kate Guthrie - BCM, ACA

Kate grew up on a farm in Winchmore and attended Ashburton College before heading to Lincoln University. After graduating from Lincoln in 1998 with a BCM in Finance, she began work in an office. Kate joined the Croys team in 2004 and since then has attained her ACA qualification. Her rural background has fostered a strong interest in farm accounting. Outside of work Kate enjoys music, renovating her house and spending time with family and friends.

Pete Rooney - ACA

With 14 years of hands-on experience working on farms in New Zealand and Australia, followed by 25 years as an accountant in Ashburton, Pete brings deep knowledge and expertise to help your business succeed - and to make preparing your annual financial statements preparation a smooth, painless process. He also has extensive knowledge of investment markets and the application of FIF /PIE reporting requirements for your tax compliance.

Accounting Team Leader

Sharyn Wylie

Sharyn has enjoyed being part of the Croys team for the last 15 years. Prior to working here, she worked at the Ashburton and Christchurch offices of PGG Trust, as well as at Brophy Knight & Partners. She is married to Owen and they have a son, Daniel, along with a lovely old dog named Sootie. Outside of work, she enjoys supporting Daniel and his band, and Owen refereeing football. Her other interests include breeding and racing horses, walking, reading and spending time with friends and extended family.

Accountant

Carolyn Crequer - AT

Carolyn is married to Kevin, and they have two adult children, both with families of their own. She was born in Ashburton but spent six years living in Dunedin and Mosgiel before moving back to Ashburton in 2000 - the same year she began her accounting career. She achieved her Accounting Technician qualification in 2008. Carolyn loves spending time with her grandkids. In her spare time she makes 3D pictures and staying active by going for walks.

Julie Kenny

Julie began working at Croys in May 2018 as part of the accounting team. In July 2019, she began studying towards a Bachelor of Accountancy through Massey University. She grew up in Ashburton, and in her spare time she enjoys skiing at Mt Hutt, walking her dog Maisy, reading a good book, and spending time with friends. She is also a Ranger Leader.

Karl Koh - BSc, CPA

Karl holds a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy and became a Certified Public Accountant in 2018. He joined Croys in September 2024 after working for his previous accounting firm for five years. Karl spends his free time going on road trips and biking. He is fascinated by cars and loves being in nature.

Kate Shaw - BCom, CA

Kate is a Chartered Accountant dedicated to helping clients navigate Xero and understand their accounts with confidence. She enjoys making accounting clear and approachable. Kate enjoys a daily yoga practice, reading, and spending time with her family. This allows her to stay focused, learning and thinking critically which supports her clear and patient approach to accounting.

Accountant

Lisa Wilson - BCom, ACA

Lisa joined the Croys team in 2011 and earned her ACA qualification while studying extramurally through Massey University. She grew up locally on her parents sheep farm and now farms with her husband Adam and their four kids on their mixed arable farm. Lisa works part time at Croys and enjoys the agricultural accounting work and being able to balance this with helping on the farm. Outside of work she enjoys playing netball and competing in the occasional multi sport race.

Virginia Mischeski - BCom

Virginia is an accountant who enjoys a good joke, reading and adventuring. She is currently furthering her study and working towards becoming a Chartered Accountant. Outside of her role at Croys, Virginia co-owns and manages Precision Trees alongside her husband and is actively involved in her church.

Wendy Rooney

Wendy joined the Croys team in 2010 as part of the administrative team, and in 2011 began her training as an accountant through Aoraki Polytechnic, studying part time while working. Having grown up up on a farm in Mid Canterbury, she especially enjoys working with Croy's agricultural clients. Wendy is married to Pete and has four children, three grandchildren and a miniature long haired Dachshund. Outside of work, she loves nothing more than supporting her family’s activities, reading, sewing, and is a regular movie goer.

Payroll & Administration

Julie Smith

Julie has worked in various administrative roles for over 40 years and has been with Croys for 20 years. She has extensive payroll experience, particularly in the agricultural industry, along with strong knowledge of New Zealand employment law. Julie enjoys working with clients to help them meet their employment obligations. She is married to Phil, and they have two adult children and four grandchildren. Outside of work, Julie enjoys the outdoors - especially fishing and biking with Phil - and spending time with their grandchildren.

Tax Administrator

Linda McClea

Linda joined the Croys team in April 2018 in a part time capacity, later moving to a full time role as receptionist/administrator. Previously, she taught at the Mid Canterbury Technology Centre in a permanent part-time position, and prior to having children, she was a science teacher at Ashburton College. Linda is married to Richard, and they have three adult sons. In her spare time she enjoys reading, staying active, getting out on the golf course and supporting her sons in their endeavors.
